Golf4Grinders was founded in 2026 by a disabled (and sometimes disgruntled) US Army veteran with mobility issues after major back surgery. As we recover, we are discovering adaptive golf techniques to navigate the terrain and hazards of courses, aiming to minimize the risk of further injury—all while adhering to the Rules of Golf. We don't have a huge team. I'm John Schlosser, founder and producer. We'll have the assistance of several PGA Professional instructors who work with PGA HOPE, helping veterans learn and improve their game using adaptive golf techniques. I'm no pro, but I've played many hundreds of rounds of golf, mostly hobbled by bad knees. We know how to grind, and we'll be sharing golf tips for adaptive players along the way. We'll also be interviewing celebrities and other grinders, too. Our mascot is a male Maine Coon cat who was born with a right front club paw. In nature, such a kitten would be left to fend for himself. Not this cat. Nothing has slowed him down. I named him Gimper. I can do that; I'm a gimper too, and I appreciate the toughness and no-quit attitude of this little cat. We're kindred spirits.
A grinder, in the context of sports in general and golf in particular, is that man or woman you see out there in the early morning or the evening gloaming, pushing to be the best they can. Our specific definition is someone who is overcoming or recovering from serious injury or other setbacks and embodies a spirit of 'NO QUIT. JUST GRIT.' In golf, you tend to see us on the municipal and public courses, not the fancy country clubs. Of course, country club grinders are welcome too. With the rise of adaptive golf equipment and adaptive golf techniques, there are more opportunities than ever for individuals to enjoy the game.
